This a podcast designed to help students revising and studying for their exams. We all know you love to cram the night before but if you can space out your learning and interleaved topics you'll be ten times more successful. I honestly think all you need is a little extra push in the right direction. Anything I can do to help you achieve your goals and dreams. Anyone can learn and anyone can improve, including YOU. I'll just be here to help, bring you some content and motivation along your learning journey.

Physics Lesson 1 - Energy
Wednesday Apr 22, 2020
Wednesday Apr 22, 2020
Here is a walk through of what might come up on the first section of the Physics Paper 1. It’s all about energy and possible transfers between systems. The required practical is this section is about specific heat capacity which looks at how much energy is needed to change a 1kg object by 1 degree Celsius. I really think you should watch the Malmesbury science video which describes this practical. Also, we look at non renewable and renewable resources and how that relates to global warming and climate change. Take your energy and use it to go through and learn as much as you can about energy, energy transfers, and energy types.

Biology Lesson 4 - Photosynthesis and Respiration
Sunday Apr 19, 2020
Sunday Apr 19, 2020
The last section of your Biology paper 1. If you’ve been interleaving these and have listened to these a few times you’ll be ready for a challenge. I suggest after this you take 5 days to study and then try a past paper. If you’ve been coming back to these and making flash cards along the way you should be prepared to try tackling a paper. Also don’t forget to look through the required practicals. Studies show that frequent no stakes testing will help improve your memory. So please put in the time and effort but also trying questions is part of that process.

Chemistry Lesson 2 - Bonding
Wednesday Apr 15, 2020
Wednesday Apr 15, 2020
Here is the second part from your Chemistry Paper 1 Exam. It’s all about bonding. The three types of bonding, simple and giant structures is the focus today.

Biology Lesson 3 - Infection and Response
Tuesday Apr 07, 2020
Tuesday Apr 07, 2020
Here is the third part of the Biology Paper 1 overview. We get into the infection and disease section. I really like this section but it’s all very real right now. If you want to skip it for now, you can always come back later. It is a very important part of your GCSE and actually good to know in life. Please remember to stay safe and wash your hands.

Chemistry Lesson 1 - Atoms, Elements and the Periodic Table
Wednesday Apr 01, 2020
Wednesday Apr 01, 2020
Here we explore the foundations of your Chemistry. It’s vital for you to know and understand this in order to be successful. The plum pudding model typically comes up on either chemistry or physics as it’s common content. I also just that you look up the alkali metals demonstration with water, oxygen and chlorine. Displacement reactions in group 7 Halogens is another demonstration you should find a video on. I hope you are all staying safe, moving when you can, using your minds daily and being positive! Stay focused on your goals and be intentional. Additional reading: https://www.compoundchem.com/2016/10/13/atomicmodels/amp/

Biology Lesson 2 - Organisation
Thursday Mar 26, 2020
Thursday Mar 26, 2020
Here is the second section of the Biology paper 1. We will look at the digestive system, circulating and the respiratory system. Also we look at the plant organ system and the tissues involved. I highly suggest that you look up the food test required practical and the photosynthesis required practical once you’re done listening.

Biology Lesson 1 - Cell Biology
Tuesday Mar 24, 2020
Tuesday Mar 24, 2020
For anyone trying to do some home studies. This mini series will go through each section of the AQA specification. We start with cells but next episode we will go into the organisation of cells (circulatory system, digestive system, plant tissues). Try and watch the Malmesbury Science YouTube Chanel along side this. The magnification required practical and the osmosis required practical are the two that go alongside this episode. I also suggest you have BBC Bitesize opened at the same time to have information and pictures. Stay positive and productive everyone!

Momemtum and Collisions (Higher)
Thursday Mar 05, 2020
Thursday Mar 05, 2020
One area for development is acing those physics paper 2 topics. Momentum was one of them. A lot of the time it will be questions about vehicles and objects that move and collide. It can also be things that are fired or launched, like sling shots. You need to gain confidence with the conservation of momentum questions by going through the theory. More importantly after that practice those situational exam questions so nothing surprises you. Get practicing! Your fate once you ace momentum - you’ll be cruising for an 8!!

Prep, Prep, Prep

Friday Jan 24, 2020
Cannot say it enough! Preparation is key to feeling prepared and confident in everything you do. Exam season is so stressful so take time now to consistently go through topics frequently! Key emphasis on frequency. YOU need to slot in small amounts of time often to help retain that information. Number one key for success is the dedication to the process. The grind and the struggle of the next few months is what will prepare you for those exams. Moves and counter moves people. I believe in you and so should you!

Hydrocarbons before the Holidays
Sunday Dec 22, 2019
Sunday Dec 22, 2019
It’s important to stay intentional with your vision, your goals. This gets even harder with the holiday season. Make a realistic schedule with the time you have. Keep it frequent so you don’t fall back into old habits. Don’t be complacent! Time still countdown and deadline don’t get extended because of holiday. Don’t loose sight of everything you’ve worked so hard for!!!
