Friday Dec 06, 2019
Friday Dec 06, 2019
Selective breeding, genetic engineering and inherited disorder tonight! Might as well link them all together. Remember always try to revise different topics at once to keep things in your long term longer. Before you play you may want a diagram of genetic engineering and insulin production. Might be a good shout to grab a diagram of genetic crosses for cystic fibrosis and polydactyly.

Monday Dec 02, 2019
Quick refresher on Biology Paper 2 topic: Natural Selection. Charles Darwin explored the Galápagos Islands and discovered that similar species on different islands that differences and varied in their characteristics. What’s interesting is that those variations enables those species to be better adapted to their environment. This goes through that and looks at that. Why do elephants have long trunks... Why to giraffes have long necks? Make the links to evolution.

Daily Biology Recap
Thursday Sep 26, 2019
Thursday Sep 26, 2019
With the mock exams looming it’s a great idea to make a tick list and start going back to basics. Use your revision guide or the specification for a topic list and then start ticking off what you confidently know. Remember to try and link as many topics together to maximise retention. Highlight what you don’t and start going through it this week. It is much better to consistently revise continually instead of cramming. All studies with memory retention confirm this. Consistent daily habits lead to success. Remember you’re preparing yourself for your future and it comes down to your drive and your determination. Make a list tonight. Pick two topics to revise this weekend. Set realistic goals and keep that promise.

Super quick look at ion formation to set yourself up for going through electrolysis and half equations. Key take away: all elements want to get a full outer shell. That’s the bottom line. Group 1 will loose 1 electron. Group 2 will loose 2 electrons. Group 7 will gain 1 electron. Group 6 will gain 2 electrons. Look at some examples to help and put in some work this week.
